Former Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC, Wang Hao, who fell from grace over half a year ago, has been arrested.
The official website of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the Communist Party of China announced on December 3 that Wang Hao, former member of the Party group and vice chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC, is suspected of bribery, with the investigation by the National Supervisory Commission concluded and the case transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution. Recently, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate made the decision to arrest Wang Hao on charges of suspected bribery.
On May 20 of this year, Wang Hao was investigated during his tenure, becoming the 26th mid-level cadre publicly announced to have fallen since 2024. On November 20, Wang Hao was investigated and transferred for judicial proceedings.
At that time, it was reported that Wang Hao sought benefits for others and received money and gifts for personal gain in the process of cadre selection and appointment; he illegally accepted gifts of cash, gift cards, obtained substantial returns through private lending, engaged in money and sexual transactions; improperly intervened in market economic activities; inflated his greed, using public power as a tool for personal gain, exploiting his position for the benefit of others in business operations, project contracting, and receiving huge sums of money.
Public information shows that Wang Hao was born in February 1965 in Dangshan, Anhui Province. He started working in July 1987 and has been working in the officialdom of Jiangsu Province, serving as the Mayor of Pizhou City, Deputy Mayor of Xuzhou City, and Secretary of the Suqian Municipal Party Committee, among other positions.
In 2007, Wang Hao became the Secretary of Pei County Party Committee, then went on to become Deputy Mayor, Executive Deputy Mayor, and Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the CPPCC in Xuzhou City.
In February 2018, Wang Hao was appointed Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor of Suqian City, and a year later he officially became the Mayor. Zhang Xuan, who was appointed as Deputy Mayor and Director of the Public Security Bureau of Suqian City at the same time as Wang Hao, was investigated in March 2021.
In December 2020, Wang Hao was appointed Secretary of the Suqian Municipal Party Committee in Jiangsu Province. In 2021, he became the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Suqian Municipal People’s Congress. In January 2023, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC, until his downfall.
It is worth mentioning that Wang Hao was once the 8th Secretary of the Suqian Municipal Party Committee in Jiangsu Province. In recent years, four former Secretaries of the Suqian Municipal Party Committee have been investigated, including Wang Hao, as well as Qiu He, former Deputy Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, Zhang Xinshi, former Party Secretary of Jiangsu Communications Holding, and Miao Ruilin, former Deputy Governor of Jiangsu Province.
