The Chinatown Service Center (CSC) has spent six years planning and preparing for the opening of the “CSC Health Center & PACE Center”, spanning 43,000 square feet in Alhambra on December 7th. This center will provide comprehensive health and social services to the community.
CSC Chairman, C. Joseph Chang, expressed gratitude to the various levels of government, officials, community members, the CSC team, and residents of Alhambra for their support of the project. He also extended thanks to all donors, including the PAMC Health Foundation.
Peter Ng, CEO of the Chinatown Service Center, reflected on the entire process from conception to completion. He noted that with the aging population being an important trend in American society, the center will offer pediatric, ophthalmology, dental, social services, and pharmacy services to the community. The daytime elderly care center is set to serve 300 seniors and disabled individuals, with ten mobile buses ensuring accessibility for those with mobility challenges.
Ng especially thanked former California Assemblyman, Ben Chou, for providing a $3.5 million seed fund, and federal Congresswoman Judy Chu for securing various funding supports. He emphasized that the “CSC Health Center & PACE Center” is not only a community hub but also a symbol of community trust and support.
During the opening ceremony, around 200 guests, including Judy Chu, Consul General Ji Qinyao, California Assemblymember Mike Fong, many donors, and supporters, witnessed this significant moment together.
California Senator Sasha Renee Perez believes that the Chinatown Service Center has set a new benchmark for community health and welfare, greatly benefiting the elderly and vulnerable groups. Assemblymember Mike Fong pledged continued support for the development of the Chinatown Service Center.
Alhambra Vice Mayor Katherine Lee expressed gratitude for the vital services provided by the Chinatown Service Center to residents of Alhambra and surrounding areas. Other distinguished guests, including Chinese Chamber of Commerce consultants Shu-rong Ma and Zi Hao Zhang, also expressed congratulations and support.
Consul General Ji Qinyao thanked the Chinatown Service Center for its long-standing assistance to the Chinese community. He praised their dedication over more than fifty years as a symbol of community cohesion. He congratulated the center on the inauguration of its new facilities, providing a broader range of community services.
Judy Chu stated, “The CSC Health Center will completely transform community healthcare services, offering one-stop support from dental care to social services, and specifically establishing a new job training center to help residents enhance their employability.” The transformation of the center from barren land into a beautiful and warm health facility is truly remarkable, and on behalf of the federal government, she presented the “Annual Best Non-Profit Organization” certification to the Chinatown Service Center.
Judy Chu has also secured an additional $850,000 in federal community grants for the Chinatown Service Center, which will be used to expand talent training services. She looks forward to the completion of this employment center.
