Brooklyn Shooting: Police Offers $10,000 Reward for Information on Chinese Victim

In September of this year, during the annual J’ouvert Caribbean festival and West Indian American Day Parade in Brooklyn, a shooting incident occurred, resulting in 5 people being injured. Among them, a 25-year-old man named Denzel A. Chan succumbed to his injuries. Currently, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Crime Stoppers organization are jointly offering a reward of up to $10,000 to seek clues to solve the case.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 77th precinct in Brooklyn on September 2nd around 2:30 PM. A man in his twenties, dressed in a brown shirt and wearing a black headscarf, suddenly jumped onto the central median of Eastern Parkway at 307th Street, and opened fire on the crowd, hitting at least five people. The victims ranged in age from 16 to 69, with four men being shot in the head, abdomen, arm, and wrist, while a 69-year-old woman was hit in the right shoulder.

All the injured were promptly transported to Kings County Hospitals in New York City. While the conditions of 4 victims are stable, unfortunately, Denzel A. Chan could not survive the severity of his injuries.

Currently, no suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is still ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information to provide relevant clues to help bring the perpetrator to justice. Of the $10,000 reward, $3,500 will be provided by Crime Stoppers and paid out after the suspect is apprehended and charged, with the remaining $6,500 funded by the NYPD and paid out after the suspect is arrested and convicted.
