Photo Collection: White House Christmas Decorations Highlight Home as a Spiritual Destination

On Monday, December 1st, 2025, the White House Christmas decorations for 2025 were officially unveiled with the theme “Home is Where the Heart Is,” showcasing the spirit of generosity, patriotism, and gratitude at the core of America, as envisioned by the First Lady Melania Trump. This marks Melania Trump’s fifth time overseeing the decoration of the White House for the holiday season, solidifying her role as a seasoned “designer” of this tradition.

Melania Trump expressed to Fox News, “The phrase ‘Home is Where the Heart Is’ holds deep meaning for me, especially as I juggle the roles of a mother and a career woman, experiencing joy, challenges, and constant travel. The ever-changing residences have taught me that home is not just a house, but a place where warmth and solace reside in my heart no matter where I am.”

The White House Christmas decorations for this year are luxurious and dazzling, with dozens of volunteer decorators from across the country assisting in transforming the presidential residence. The decorations include 51 Christmas trees, 75 classic wreaths, over 10,000 blue butterflies, 25,000 feet of ribbon, 2,000 strands of lights, 2,800 gold star ornaments, approximately 213 meters of garland, and a 54-kilogram gingerbread White House.

Every space within the White House, including the library, China Room, East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, State Dining Room, Cross Hall, and Entrance Hall, has been meticulously adorned with festive decor.

The holiday decorations were previewed to the media on Monday and will be open to the public for limited tours starting from Tuesday, spreading the warmth, faith, and hope that illuminate the White House during the holiday season to the public up close.

The theme of the East Room is “Home is Where the Heart Is: America, Our Home,” celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with patriotic decorations. The room features a color scheme of red, white, and blue adorned with national symbols such as the bald eagle, the Great Seal, roses, and oak trees. 56 eagle ornaments hang from the Christmas tree representing states and territories, along with 250 stars symbolizing America’s upcoming birthday.

The Green Room’s theme, “Home is Where the Heart Is: Family Fun,” showcases American favorites like playing cards, dominoes, and a LEGO portrait of President Trump and George Washington.

The Blue Room’s theme, “Home is Where the Heart Is: Where Strength and Sacrifice Meets Home,” pays tribute to Gold Star families with a color scheme of blue, gold, and ivory, complemented by golden stars.

In the center of the Blue Room stands the official White House Christmas tree—a 19.5-foot Fraser fir from Michigan adorned with 420 strands of lights (totaling 21,000 bulbs) and 3,000 feet of ribbon, radiating a brilliant warmth. The tree decorations were designed with AI assistance and 3D printing, depicting state birds and flowers.

The Red Room focuses on the “Fostering the Future” initiative championed by the First Lady to support foster children, featuring over ten thousand blue butterflies symbolizing transformation and hope.
