Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Monday (July 7) that, following the expiration of the temporary anti-dumping duties, Vietnam has imposed a maximum anti-dumping tariff of 27.83% on certain hot-rolled steel coil products originating from China.
According to Reuters, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade stated in a release that this anti-dumping tariff officially came into effect on July 6, 2025 and will be in place for five years.
In March of this year, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade began imposing a similar temporary anti-dumping duty on Chinese hot-rolled steel for a period of 120 days.
According to the statement, Chinese companies including Baoshan Iron & Steel and Maanshan Iron & Steel will be subject to a 27.83% tariff.
Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group will also face a 23.1% tariff, higher than the 19.38% imposed in March.
“The domestic production has suffered significant damage,” the statement said, “and there is a connection between China’s export dumping and the losses in the domestic (steel) industry.”
Following complaints from Vietnamese producers, Vietnam launched an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese hot-rolled steel products in July last year.
The Vietnamese government stated that from January to September last year, Vietnam imported nearly 8.8 million tons of hot-rolled steel, with 72% coming from China.
