On Friday, Vice President Vance attended the graduation ceremony at the United States Naval Academy and delivered a speech. He emphasized that the Trump administration has changed defense strategy, no longer engaging in “endless missions,” and that the U.S. military will embark on missions with clear missions and goals.
In the morning of Friday, the Naval Academy’s 2025 graduation ceremony took place at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. A total of 1,049 graduates participated in this ceremony. They will serve around the world as Ensigns in the Navy or as Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps.
Vice President Vance said in his speech, “We are shifting towards a strategy based on realism and protecting our core national interests. But this does not mean we will neglect threats, rather it means we will respond to threats with strict discipline. When you are deployed to the battlefield, you must be clear about your objectives.”
Vance also emphasized that the Trump administration highly values military personnel and will only deploy troops when necessary to defend national interests. He stated, “The Trump administration recognizes that our most precious resource is you – those young people who are willing to put on military uniforms and serve their country faithfully.”
According to tradition, the U.S. President and Vice President each year will attend graduation ceremonies at military academies. President Trump is expected to deliver a speech at West Point Military Academy on Saturday.
