Steve Bannon released after serving 4-month sentence for contempt of Congress.

Former White House senior advisor Steve Bannon, who served in the early days of the Trump administration, was released on Tuesday (October 29) after serving a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.

At 70 years old, Bannon was released on Tuesday morning and welcomed by his family and friends before heading to his “War Room” studio to resume work. He stated that he will focus on helping Trump win the presidential election.

“Being in federal prison for four months not only didn’t break me, but it made me stronger,” he said. “I am now more energetic and focused than ever before.”

Regarding the January 6th Capitol riot case, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot had subpoenaed Bannon for testimony and documents in 2021, but he refused to cooperate. He was later indicted for contempt of Congress. On October 21, 2022, US Judge Carl Nichols sentenced Bannon to four months for contempt of Congress. Bannon then appealed the case and delayed serving the sentence, but the Supreme Court rejected it.

On July 1, 2024, Bannon began serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.

When Bannon began serving his sentence, he referred to himself as a “political prisoner” and said he was “proud to be in jail.” He added that he is fighting against Attorney General Merrick Garland and the “corrupt” Department of Justice.

According to the Associated Press, Bannon plans to hold a press conference in Manhattan later on Tuesday to discuss his experience in prison.

Peter Navarro, former White House trade advisor under the Trump administration, was also sentenced to four months in prison for contempt of Congress and was released in July of this year.
