The China Earthquake Networks Center officially determined that at 17:03 on December 31, 2025, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in Zhang County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province, with an epicenter at 34.87 degrees north latitude and 104.57 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 13 kilometers.
Currently, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage.
According to the rapid catalog of the China Earthquake Networks Center, there have been a total of 41 earthquakes measuring above magnitude 3 within 200 kilometers of the epicenter in the past five years. The largest earthquake was a 6.2 magnitude quake that struck Jishishan County, Linxia, Gansu Province on December 18, 2023, which was 186 kilometers away from the current epicenter.
