Another Jewelry Store Robbery Case: A Man Commits the Crime in Nanchang County, Jiangxi

Recently, a robbery occurred in Jiangxi’s Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province. The suspect involved in the robbery has been arrested. Prior to this incident, a robbery at a jewelry store had already taken place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

A viral video circulating online shows a man dressed in black with a black hat engaged in a struggle with store personnel inside a jewelry store. The man in black appears to be using a spray tool on the store staff.

According to a report by “Da Wan News” on June 3, the on-duty personnel of Jiangxi’s Jiangxi Town Government disclosed a robbery incident in the area, and the suspect has been apprehended.

In the early hours of the 3rd, the Nanchang County Public Security Bureau in Jiangxi reported that the incident occurred in Jiangxi’s Jiangxi Town around 7 p.m. on June 2. The suspect is a 38-year-old man named Tian from Ziyang, Sichuan, who robbed a jewelry store of gold and fled. There were no casualties at the scene, and Tian was arrested in the early hours of the 3rd. All the stolen items have been recovered.

Media reports suggest that nearby businesses mentioned that the jewelry store had been operating on the street for many years, and this was the first time a robbery had occurred. The phone of the store owner remains unanswered.

Online comments raised questions about the motive behind the robbery, with some speculating that the suspect resorted to theft due to financial difficulties, while others joked about reasons like the need to supplement the dowry or the person being from Sichuan and traveling far alone to rob a jewelry store.

In recent times, the price of gold has been soaring, leading to many people in mainland China buying gold. However, the economic situation in China is facing challenges with foreign investments leaving, a surge of business closures, a real estate crisis, massive unemployment, and local governments being heavily indebted.

In March this year, a video circulated online showing a robbery at a jewelry store in Hangzhou’s MixC mall. A young man in black and white pants with sunglasses repeatedly smashed display cases with a hammer, stuffing jewelry into a black bag he carried. When apprehended on the street, the man, who claimed to have diplomatic immunity and not being Chinese, was officially identified as being from Yunnan.
