【Epoch Times, October 30, 2025】The 52nd TCS NYC Marathon will kick off this Sunday, November 2, at 8 a.m. with over 55,000 runners expected to traverse all five boroughs, passing through more than 20 communities, and crossing multiple bridges to complete the full 26.2-mile course. The NYPD emphasized that there is currently no specific or credible threat intelligence, and law enforcement will be mobilized with the highest security measures, deploying personnel from various units by air, land, and sea to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that this year’s marathon has not received any specific threats, but the police force will still deploy thousands of officers along major roadways and at the finish line in Central Park. This deployment includes emergency response teams, mounted units, K-9 units, and bomb squads. Helicopters and drones will be used for aerial monitoring and real-time information gathering, with a social media monitoring team in place to immediately identify any suspicious messages.
The finish line area in Central Park will implement strict security screening measures, requiring all entering spectators to undergo bag checks. Weapons, large backpacks, coolers, folding chairs, and umbrellas are prohibited on-site, as well as the operation of private drones. The spectator stands at the finish line will be located at the west side of 67th Street (67th St on West Drive).
The opening ceremony, including the Parade of Nations showcasing participants from around the globe, will take place on the 31st. This year, runners from approximately 160 countries are participating, with up to 66% tackling the New York City Marathon for the first time. Participants of all ages will be chasing their dreams on the racecourse. The medals awarded to finishers this year are also uniquely designed, carrying special commemorative significance.
At just past 8 a.m. on November 2, the race will begin with wheelchair participants, followed by elite professional runners. The first wave of general participants is scheduled to start at 9:10 a.m.
Law enforcement anticipates over a million spectators along the route, with partial road closures and traffic controls in effect. The following are the closure periods:
