During the Tang Dynasty’s Zhenguan era, the monk Xuanzang encountered numerous hardships to bring back the true scriptures to Chang’an. Emperor Taizong personally led civil and military officials to greet Xuanzang outside the Daming Palace, by the Zhuque Bridge. The Mahayana Buddhist teachings flourished in the Central Plains at that time. Today marks another significant moment in the worldwide spread of true Buddhist teachings.
