The United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the Trump administration is in negotiations with the “Group of Fifteen” on a trade agreement.
President Trump met with Italian Prime Minister Meloni in the Oval Office on Thursday (April 17) and received a briefing on the progress of trade negotiations from Bessent.
Bessent mentioned that he and other government officials had a meeting with Japanese officials on Wednesday (April 16), and South Korean officials are scheduled to visit Washington next week.
The Treasury Secretary emphasized that they will “take swift action” to reach a trade agreement.
Since the implementation of the 90-day suspension of “reciprocal tariffs” announced by the President last week, the Trump administration has held talks with foreign officials from countries including the European Union and Japan.
Bessent also disclosed that negotiations with India are progressing “very rapidly.”
Furthermore, according to official sources from the United States and Ukraine, the mining agreement between the two countries could be signed as early as next week.
When asked where the U.S.-Ukraine mining agreement would be signed, President Trump deferred the question to the Treasury Secretary.
Bessent stated that the details are still being worked out, but it will be “largely consistent with what we have agreed upon previously.”
