Recently, a netizen posted on social media claiming that while riding on Nanjing Metro Line 3, they were startled by a face on a poster, prompting them to question why Nanjing Metro would display such a terrifying poster, sparking a discussion.
According to a report by Modern Express, the netizen mentioned that the poster was placed inside the subway tunnel, and when the train stopped, the face of a man was reflected on the transparent glass window. The man had a deathly pale complexion, with blood on his teeth, giving off a somewhat “eerie” appearance.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the poster was promoting the play “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,” which is set to be performed in Nanjing soon.
On April 7th, the official account of the play responded on social media, stating that the character depicted was Flibustier, a crew member on the Nautilus, inspired by Jules Verne, without any horror elements, and suitable for all ages.
However, many netizens continued to comment on its eerie nature. “That deathly pale face.” “Would be scared to death if seen at night.” “Who would understand this, in the middle of the night, tears flowing.” “Ghosts and monsters roaming.” “It’s not even the Ghost Festival yet.” “Announcements in the underworld tunnel.” “Don’t understand why the poster was placed there?”
As of 11 am on April 8th, there were more than 1700 comments under the original post. Nanjing Metro promptly responded, stating that they had communicated with the advertising company, and the poster would be removed in the near future.
