In Anhui Province’s Yuexi County, Anqing City, a 6-year-old girl mysteriously disappeared from a spot just a few meters away from her home, and as of the evening of April 6th, she has been missing for 6 days and 5 nights. The surveillance cameras malfunctioned inexplicably. Her beloved mobile phone was found discarded in a drain. With no sign of life nor a trace of her, her mother is devastated and blames herself.
According to reports from the Central Broadcasting Network, on the afternoon of April 5th at the scene in Changpu Town, it was learned that the missing girl, Wang Pei, aged 6, is about 110 cm tall with short hair at the time of her disappearance. The girl and her family live in a three-story residential building along the street in town, with the first floor hosting shops such as bubble tea and stationery, and the second and third floors serving as residential living areas.
Villagers from the same village explained that the girl went missing around 8 p.m. on March 31st. At that time, Wang Pei’s mother planned to return to their ancestral home in Changling Village from town and asked her daughter to go upstairs to fetch the keys. After receiving the keys, the mother left in the car.
On that evening, the girl was still holding onto her mother’s old phone with no SIM card, only able to connect to Wi-Fi, which was her cherished possession.
Changling Village is about a 20-minute drive from where the girl and her mother were staying, and upon the mother’s return, she discovered her daughter missing.
Their house is located behind a large expanse of paddy fields, and the route home involves passing through an alley. The mother searched along the alley several times with no luck and even went outside to search, but to no avail. By the time the police were called, more than half an hour had passed.
Once the girl turned into the alley, she vanished, with no trace of her captured by the surveillance cameras at both ends of the alley. There were no surveillance cameras within the alley itself.
In recent days, the search for the girl has gone viral, and the owner of a nearby bubble tea shop recalled that on the evening of the incident, the child visited the shop at 8:18 p.m., connected to the shop’s Wi-Fi, and even mentioned to the owner about going to deliver the keys to her mother.
On April 4th, the girl’s phone was found near the scene — in a drainage ditch in a nearby vegetable patch, the phone was discarded among tall grasses in the drain, with mud still sticking to the phone casing.
Netizens couldn’t help but suspect the residents in the vicinity. The girl’s father mentioned that there are dozens of households in that area, and the police have searched through each one without any discoveries. Even at the spot where the girl was last seen, police dogs showed no reaction.
The girl’s father’s cousin (the girl’s aunt) revealed on social media that some time ago, Wang Pei was bullied by a few kids at school, and after her father reported it to the police, the culprits compensated with over ten thousand yuan.
It is speculated that due to lingering resentment and pain over the compensation, a few days before the incident, one of the students’ mothers again caused trouble at the school, slapped Wang Pei, which led her father to report it to the police. Emotions ran high, and he even slapped the woman at the police station, resulting in her being detained for a few days.
This all happened five to six days before the disappearance of the girl. The aunt believes that the child’s disappearance might be related to a retaliatory motive, as the woman couldn’t even accept the compensation money and now being beaten and detained, she might not have been able to bear this situation.
Apart from the girl’s aunt, a netizen from Anhui claimed to have watched the girl grow up, and they are good friends with her parents, stating that her parents are just ordinary people working hard for their livelihood.
Several netizens left comments expressing hopes for the safe return of the girl and for her to come home unharmed.
As of now, the whereabouts of the girl remain unknown.
