Shenzhen’s Popular Restaurant Chain Closes Over Ten Stores Amid Economic Downturn

China’s economy is facing a harsh winter, with weak market consumption and businesses across various industries struggling to survive. Recently, all branches of the popular Shenzhen online celebrity chain restaurant “Chunxi Tai Korean Snack House” have closed and emptied their stores. The business owners indicated in the closure notice that due to the continued sluggish market environment, the company could no longer sustain normal operations.

Recently, some Shenzhen residents reported online that more than ten branches of the online celebrity chain restaurant “Chunxi Tai Korean Snack House” (referred to as “Chunxi Tai”) suddenly closed and vacated their premises. Online reviews showed that they were listed as “temporarily closed.” Many residents took to social media to express their frustration that they were unable to use the prepaid amounts and could not reach the business.

According to a report on Shenzhen News Network on April 28th, reporters visited multiple Chunxi Tai stores in Longhua, Baoan, Futian, and Luohu districts and found that all stores had ceased operations, but the status of closure varied. Some stores still had promotional materials intact.

In a shopping mall near Meilin Guan in Longhua District, the Chunxi Tai store had closed and was being taken over by a new brand, with renovations underway.

The store space in a mall in Baoan District had not been rented out yet, and the store was dark inside with a sign outside stating “equipment maintenance, temporarily closed for business.” The mall had a temporary notice posted outside stating “internal adjustments, temporarily not receiving guests,” with a QR code for salary arrears processing in the upper right corner.

In a mall near Zhuzilin in Futian District, the store was also not rented out, and the mall had a temporary notice outside stating “store temporarily closed due to internal debugging.” In another mall near a shopping center in Futian District, the store had been completely closed off with no closure notice or contact information posted at the entrance.

In a mall in Luohu District, the store was empty with no one around, but the sign was still up. Nearby shop employees mentioned that they were not sure of the exact situation, but Chunxi Tai had likely stopped operating around April 22nd.

The report mentioned that Chunxi Tai had already sent closure notices to each store. According to staff distributing the notices, due to the continued downturn in the market environment, the company’s performance had been declining for several months, leading to continuous losses and increasing operational pressures. The company had made a careful decision to halt all operations of its directly operated stores from April 20, 2026.

In another report by “First Scene,” on April 26th, its reporters visited several Chunxi Tai stores and confirmed that they were indeed closed. When visiting the COCO Park in Futian, the store was completely barricaded with no closure notice or contact information. Later, the reporters went to “Wanxiang Shijia” in Luohu and found the Chunxi Tai store still present but empty with scattered items inside.

Reporters tried calling the contact number of the person in charge provided by the shopping center multiple times, but no one answered. A circulated notice signed by “Chunxi Tai Mixed Rice” provided a member service hotline and WeChat, which reporters attempted to add but did not succeed.

Information on “Qichacha” shows that Shenzhen Chunxi Tai Catering Chain Co., Ltd. was deregistered on February 28, 2025, and Shenzhen Chunxi Tai Business Management Co., Ltd. was deregistered on February 3, 2026. However, Shenzhen Chunxi Tai Restaurant Management Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Chunxi Tai Technology Co., Ltd., with the same legal representative, are still in existence.
