Man Unexpectedly Finds 1500 Priceless Silver Coins While Taking a Walk with 2000 Years of History

Romanian man Marius Mangeac recently stumbled upon a priceless discovery while taking a walk outside Letca Veche. With a metal detector in hand, he unexpectedly uncovered a trove of ancient Roman silver coins, totaling 1,469 in number, estimated to be around 2,000 years old.

On what started as an ordinary weekend stroll, Mangeac found himself “meeting history” as he witnessed the unearthed silver coins, momentarily questioning if he was dreaming. “At that moment, I even thought I was dreaming,” he told the media. “I never expected to witness history firsthand.”

Upon seeing the silver denarii coins, Mangeac described his heart racing with excitement. “My heart was beating very fast,” he said. “I even wanted to pinch myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream.” The amateur treasure hunter shared that these coins hold at least a 2,000-year-old history.

After spending two days meticulously documenting the coins, he voluntarily handed them over to the local Letca Nouă town hall, hoping to one day take his children to a museum to witness this piece of history together. According to Romanian law, individuals who legally surrender historical artifacts of value may receive a reward of up to 45% of its market value.

“I hope that one day I can take my children to the museum and personally tell them how I lucky I was to discover a page of our nation’s history,” he expressed to Fox News during an interview. This treasure can be traced back to the Dacian period, where they battled against the Roman Empire in the 2nd century AD, ultimately facing defeat.

This discovery comes shortly after two other treasure hunters in Breaza, Romania, also uncovered treasures from the Dacian era, indicating the area’s rich historical significance and remains.
