Recently, in mainland China, several netizens have captured unidentified flying objects in the shape of dragons flying over the night sky. On the evening of May 8, the “dragon-shaped” flying object appeared again in Xi’an, with some netizens even recording a sound resembling a dragon’s roar, sparking discussions.
According to reports from mainland Chinese media such as Beijing Daily, on that night, Xi’an experienced a sudden short-lived heavy rain and thunderstorm, during which many citizens once again captured the mysterious “dragon-shaped” flying object hovering in the night sky.
In the video footage, the sky continuously lit up with lightning and thunder as a black unidentified flying object appeared and disappeared in the night sky. Some citizens also recorded a deep roaring sound with a penetrating quality.
One citizen commented with the video, saying, “Is this the ‘dragon roar’? It sounds like an old cow’s roar. There is no construction work around my house, and at that moment, it was passing through the southern part of the Qinling Mountains, with a deep sound. It lasts 28 seconds, and the sound was definitely not from any cars or motorcycles but had a sense of spaciousness and penetration coming from a distance.”
She also mentioned that the experience in person was more overwhelming than recording with a phone, as if there was a giant Godzilla-like monster roaring in the distant sky, with a powerful and penetrative sound, similar to a movie theater’s audio, which was lacking when recording with a phone.
Another netizen mentioned that their cat suddenly sat up upon hearing the sound, expressing how impactful and intimidating the sound was, similar to the roar of a tiger.
The video has sparked discussions online, but it has also raised doubts from some skeptics.
In response to this, the citizen clarified that the video was not edited intentionally afterward, and it did not involve sports cars, fighter jets, airplanes, or human-made devices. She also pointed out that other videos capturing similar sounds in different areas of Xi’an were available online for verification, emphasizing that she was merely awe-struck and documented the incident.
Lastly, the citizen called for respecting nature and all things unknown since humans are insignificant in the face of nature. “Even with rockets, you are just drizzle in front of nature.”
On the same night, netizens in Ankang City, Shaanxi, also captured three “dragons” hovering in the sky, two of which were bright blue-green, vividly moving like the Tai Chi symbol in the night sky, with a smaller black one intermittently appearing below them.
Prior to this, on the night of May 2, Xi’an netizens also captured the silhouette of a “dragon” intermittently appearing in the clouds in the night sky. An eyewitness informed the media that they saw three or more “dragons” circling the city, chasing each other. “Unidentified flying objects in Xi’an” surged to the top of various social media trending lists on May 4.
