On April 21, a netizen posted a video claiming that a strange phenomenon occurred in the sky of Chengdu, Sichuan, with two suns appearing for about 7 to 8 minutes. This sparked discussions online.
The video shows two “suns” appearing, one in front of the other, in a semi-overlapping state. In the video, a woman can be heard urging others to come and see the two suns.
According to a report by “Sichuan Observer,” witnesses said that the sun appeared very red that day. As it approached the clouds, it gradually “split” into two suns. Even after leaving the clouds, the two suns remained partially overlapping for a total of seven to eight minutes, a process visible to the naked eye.
On April 25, a reporter from Epoch Times contacted the person who filmed the video. According to the individual, the video was authentic, and she captured it from the 30th floor, showing two visible suns.
The filmer mentioned, “At first, the sun was normal, then when it rose into the clouds, it started to split into two. The sun was not very glaring while in the clouds, but when it came out as two, it was bright. It was visible to the naked eye that the sun had split, lasting for about 7 to 8 minutes.”
Some netizens commented that many people witnessed this phenomenon that day, with one saying, “I even heard screams downstairs before seeing this phenomenon.”
The video stirred discussions online. Many netizens speculated, with some jokingly saying, “The sun is giving birth.” Others referenced legends, “The Classic of Mountains and Seas isn’t just a myth! The appearance of nine suns slowly reveals… ” Some related the double sun to signs of drought, warning about the need to conserve food. There were also more ominous interpretations like “The appearance of double suns heralds chaos” and concerns about earthquakes being more active.
Others remarked, “Notice how strange things are becoming more common,” and questioned the reality of their world, saying, “With more and more things that defy our understanding appearing, what is truly real? I increasingly feel like our world is a simulation.”
