Chinese Democratic Party Members Condemn International Crackdown with Car Vandalized Warning “Beware Family in China”

On June 2nd, after participating in the 37th annual Manhattan memorial and protest event in front of the Chinese consulate to commemorate the June Fourth incident, Zang Wenhui, a member of the Chinese Democratic Party, discovered defamatory cards left on his vehicle, with threatening words “Beware of your family members in the country” carved on the car’s body. Recently, he received the filed report from the New York City Police Department and shared the details of the incident with our newspaper. The Chinese Democratic Party condemns the despicable actions of the Chinese Communist Party.

On June 2nd, the Chinese Democratic Party Central Committee organized hundreds of members to hold a “Commendation of the 37th Anniversary of the June Fourth Resistance” march in midtown Manhattan, followed by a rally in front of the Chinese consulate to denounce the heinous crime of the Chinese Communist Party in the bloody crackdown on students and civilians in 1989.

Zang Wenhui stated that he was the on-site commander of the protest in front of the Chinese consulate that day. He parked his vehicle near 10th Ave. in Manhattan, not far from the consulate. When he returned to retrieve his car after the event, he found a handwritten card wedged on the windshield. At that time, he didn’t pay much attention, thinking someone had just left a piece of paper. It wasn’t until he parked his car at Park Ave. and E.46th during his return journey that he noticed the card saying “June Fourth=riot”. To his shock, he discovered threatening words “Beware of your family members in the country” carved on the car’s body.

“I felt that the situation was a bit serious, so I called the police,” Zang Wenhui said, adding that he later personally went to the police station to file an official report.

Zang Wenhui mentioned that he was wearing the Chinese Democratic Party’s attire and a member’s hat that day, shuttling between the parking location and the event site to transport supplies. He couldn’t help but wonder if his vehicle was targeted because of his involvement in protesting the June Fourth massacre.

Furthermore, Zang Wenhui revealed that he had previously faced pressure from the Chinese Communist authorities. In 2017, when he applied to the Chinese consulate to renew his passport, he was not approved, indicating his personal information may have been compromised by the consulate.

This incident made Zang Wenhui realize the existence of transnational suppression. “Before, I only saw ‘transnational oppression’ in the media. When it happened to me, I still felt a tremor in my heart and a bit of fear,” he said.

In response to the matter, Wang Juntao, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Democratic Party, condemned any threats and intimidations against Chinese Democratic Party members.

Wang Juntao stated, “We condemn these threats and intimidations, especially using Chinese family members to intimidate. This is the hooliganism and shameless behavior of the Chinese Communist Party.”

He mentioned the Chinese Democratic Party members often face interference by people sent by the Chinese Communist Party during activities in Times Square and in front of the Flushing Library, including attempts to harass with the involvement of paid individuals. “They try to intimidate the Chinese Democratic Party members. These despicable acts precisely illustrate the fear and insecurity of the Chinese Communist Party forces, unable to deter the Chinese Democratic Party members’ belief in resisting the CCP,” he said.
