The human rights situation in Xinjiang, China continues to attract attention from the international community. Recently, a Xinjiang resident revealed to Epoch Times two major grievances of the local people. Firstly, the authorities are forcibly remodeling mosques, violating people’s beliefs. Secondly, it is extremely difficult for Xinjiang residents to obtain passports, making it nearly impossible for them to travel abroad. The resident expressed dissatisfaction with the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping.
In recent days, a Xinjiang resident named Yiming (alias) told Epoch Times that the Chinese authorities have demolished Islamic-style green domes and minarets, reconstructing them in a traditional Chinese garden style. He was well aware that this so-called “sinicization of religions” was a serious violation of their beliefs. Moreover, the Chinese Communist Party is an atheistic political party, and the actions of the party officials are unacceptable.
Local residents have stated that the government is packaging these renovations as “ethnic integration.” However, many members of religious groups privately believe that the dismantling of the mosque domes symbolizes the systematic erasure of a group’s existence.
