Congresswoman Mario fights for two million dollars in funding for the New York City Police Department.

New York Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis announced on the 15th that she has secured $2.2 million in federal funding for the New York City Police Department. The funding will be used by the department to upgrade police protective gear, belt-mounted first aid kits, and replace outdated tasers.

With this $2.2 million funding, Congresswoman Malliotakis has now secured over $9 million in funding for the NYPD, helping the department upgrade forensic equipment, patrol cars, license plate recognition systems, and K-9 training programs.

In her statement, Malliotakis mentioned that the new tasers have been proven to be a less lethal means of law enforcement, and the first aid kits can provide emergency treatment to patients before they reach the hospital, potentially saving more lives during missions.

Patrick Hendry, the president of the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) in New York City, mentioned that the challenges faced by police officers are unprecedented, and law enforcement needs support from leaders at all levels of government, not just rhetorically but also in action. He expressed gratitude to Malliotakis for taking proactive steps to support them.

In addition to Patrick Hendry, other union leaders such as Paul DiGiacomo from the Detectives’ Endowment Association (DEA), Louis Turco from the Lieutenants Benevolent Association, and Chris Monahan from the Captains Endowment Association of the NYPD, also expressed gratitude to Congresswoman Malliotakis in their statements.
