Chinese electric vehicle giant Xiaopeng Motors’ first humanoid robot product, “Iron,” made an unexpected appearance at the MixC City in Shenzhen Bay, but unfortunately, it fell down during its debut, causing a moment of embarrassment as it couldn’t get up on its own and had to be carried away by staff.
On January 31, the Xiaopeng humanoid robot Iron made its first public appearance at the MixC City in Shenzhen Bay and unexpectedly lost balance and fell while walking. Some netizens shared videos and photos of the scene on social media.
The video showed the robot twitching visibly in its legs after falling, and since it couldn’t stand up by itself, it had to be carried away by staff. Netizens jokingly referred to it as a “large-scale social death scene.”
Both Chairman He Xiaopeng and Vice President of Xiaopeng Motors responded to the incident.
The Vice President of Xiaopeng Motors mentioned that the robot Iron has walked many times, and on one occasion, she fell. The host remarked, “In life, you also have to experience setbacks on the road,” and no one doubted that this fall was not acted by a human. He Xiaopeng expressed, “It reminds me of all children learning to walk, after falling, they will stand firm, and the next step is to start running, continue running.”
At the Xiaopeng Motors Technology Day held on October 24, 2023, Xiaopeng showcased its first humanoid robot PX5.
Then, on November 6, 2025, Xiaopeng’s latest generation AI robot Iron made its official appearance. According to the introduction, Xiaopeng Iron is designed with a human-like structure, standing at 178cm tall, weighing 70kg, with 62 active degrees of freedom, and its hands also match the 1:1 size of human hands with 15 degrees of freedom for each hand. The “brain” of this robot uses a Turing AI chip with 3000T of computing power, providing powerful data processing and learning capabilities, allowing it to think, remember, and autonomously control its limb movements like a human.
It’s worth mentioning that at the exhibition, due to its cat-like gait, many netizens questioned, saying, “It feels like a real person is trying hard to play a robot.”
