On November 16, mainland Chinese actress Tang Wei posted a screenshot on her Instagram questioning the accuracy of her birthplace information on “Baidu Baike.” She exclaimed, “Wrong!,” hoping the website would make corrections.
Tang Wei shared a screenshot of her personal information on the Chinese “Baidu Baike” on her only social media account, stating that she was born on October 7, 1979, in Leqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. She called out from afar, “They got it wrong! I was born in Hangzhou Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital. Can someone correct this for me?”
Following this, the official Weibo account of “Baidu Baike” posted: “Breaking News: It has been corrected now.” They responded that enthusiastic fans had already made corrections based on related reports and advised everyone to refer to the latest content. This sparked netizens to comment humorously, “Regular people can’t get things changed, only celebrities can!”
Some netizens left comments under Tang Wei’s Instagram post saying, “It’s now showing the correct information, probably because everyone provided feedback.”
Previously, an article by “Hangzhou Net” mentioned that Tang Wei has lived in Hangzhou, with places like He Fang Street and Wulin Road being her residences. After the correction of Tang Wei’s information on “Baidu Baike,” many netizens were surprised as they had always thought she was from Wenzhou. In reality, although she was born in Hangzhou, her ancestral home is in Wenzhou, and the media had reported her visiting Wenzhou to pay respects to her ancestors.
At 45 years old, Tang Wei met Kim Tae-yong through their collaboration on the film “Late Autumn” in 2010. The two got married in 2014 and welcomed a daughter in August 2016 in Hong Kong. In recent years, Tang Wei has shined in the Korean film industry, winning several Best Actress awards for her role in “A Reason to Break Up” directed by Park Chan-wook, including the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards, and the 16th Asian Film Awards. She also became the first foreign actress to win the Blue Dragon Award, attracting attention.
The 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards in South Korea, scheduled for November 29, revealed the nominees on October 30. Tang Wei earned her third Best Actress nomination for her role in “Wonderland” directed by Kim Tae-yong, while Kim Tae-yong himself was nominated for Best Director for the same film. Tang Wei shared a lovely photo with her husband, celebrating their dual nominations at the Blue Dragon Awards on their 10th wedding anniversary. Fans have also been eagerly anticipating both of them winning awards.
