The Chinese Communist Party’s political black box operations have led to many officials having unknown identities. This has caused confusion when handling cases involving individuals with the same name. Not only is the public unable to differentiate, even official media outlets have made mistakes. He Song recently had his national Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) membership revoked. The CCP state media claimed he was the former Vice General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group. However, upon investigation by outsiders, it was found that the He Song being dealt with is actually a Deputy Minister of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission with the same name.
The 46th Chairman’s Meeting of the National CPPCC of the CCP was held on February 6th. The meeting approved the decision to revoke the qualifications of CPPCC members Tian Xuebin and He Song of the 14th National Committee.
The official media outlet “Observer Net” reported that Tian Xuebin was a former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources; as for He Song, the website reported that he was the former Vice General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group, with his resume taken down from the group’s official website last year.
Several Chinese media outlets including Tencent and Sina reproduced the same content, and even Singapore’s “Straits Times” reported on “He Song, Vice General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group”.
However, on social media platform X, some individuals verified that this He Song is not from the defense industry, but is a CPPCC member from the military, who previously served as the Deputy Minister of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission.
According to information verified by Dajiyuan, He Song is a military system CPPCC member who served as the Deputy Minister of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission under the CCP.
The list of members of the 14th National Committee of the CCP’s CPPCC shows that there is only one member named He Song.
Public reports show that on August 1, 2022, He Song, the Deputy Minister of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission, attended an event held by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. From August 19 to 23, 2024, Gao Jin, a member of the National CPPCC Standing Committee and Deputy Director of the Economic Committee, led a research group to Guangxi for investigation, with He Song, a member of the National CPPCC, participating in the research. Photos from both events show that the Deputy Minister of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission named He Song is the same person as the CPPCC member named He Song.
The list of delegates to the 20th National Congress of the CCP announced by the CCP’s military newspaper on August 15, 2022, also includes a delegate named He Song.
The CCP’s military newspaper published a comprehensive summary of the performance of military CPPCC members in 2024 on March 4, 2025, mentioning that “Delegate He Song focused on the construction of the new land and sea channel in the western region.”
He Song’s age and military background are not specified. Baidu Baike records show He Song as a former member of the 14th National CPPCC, but do not specify his identity outside of the CPPCC. Another entry records He Song as the former Vice General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group.
There are many individuals with the same name in the CCP’s political circles, often leading to confusion. For example, the list of chairpersons of the National People’s Congress in 2003 included Li Xiaopeng, who is not the son of former Premier Li Peng, but a world gymnastics champion.
In 2012, two individuals with the same name were elected as members of the new Beijing Municipal Party Committee. One was Chen Gang, the Deputy Mayor of Beijing, and the other was Chen Gang, the Secretary of the Chaoyang District Party Committee. The former was later investigated and sentenced to 15 years in prison, while the latter currently serves as the Party Secretary of Guangxi Autonomous Region.
However, commentator Li Lin believes that the confusion surrounding the true identity of CPPCC member He Song is actually a result of CCP’s dark operations and deliberate creation of identity confusion. Even the reporters of the CCP official media “Observer Net” made mistakes, leading to multiple Chinese media outlets reproducing the misinformation, which is misleading to the public. On one hand, it appears to be a loss of control in CCP propaganda, while on the other hand, it is because the CCP authorities are accustomed to deception and do not care about such errors.
