Police investigate Queen’s District “Fire Ring Drifting” and release photos of three suspects.

The New York City Police Department released photos of three individuals involved in the “ring of fire street takeover” incident that occurred in Queens on April 18 last Saturday. Among the suspects, one of them is of Asian descent. The authorities are currently seeking eight suspects, including seven males and one female, for charges such as reckless endangerment.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. on April 18 at the intersection of 69th Street and Eliot Avenue, located at the border of Maspeth and Middle Village. Police reported that around a hundred people were gathered at the scene, where multiple vehicles were performing donuts and dangerous stunts at the intersection, igniting flames between two gas stations, creating what is known as a “ring of fire,” causing a chaotic situation.

According to the police, six out of the eight suspects were captured on camera performing donut stunts at the intersection, while two individuals dangerously jumped onto a police patrol car as officers rushed to the scene. Online videos showed a large crowd gathering to watch and record the events, fueling further chaos.

Authorities emphasized that such “street takeovers” and illegal street racing activities pose a serious threat to public safety, and they will continue to pursue the suspects and hold them accountable by law. They urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.

The incident has sparked strong dissatisfaction and anxiety among local residents. Some residents have expressed to the media that the late-night noise and chaotic scenes were unbearable, causing them to consider relocating from New York to places like Florida for a better quality of life.

Councilman Phil Wong of the 30th District pointed out that similar illegal gathering activities have become increasingly serious quality-of-life issues in his district, intertwined with problems such as car theft, catalytic converter theft, scams targeting the elderly, and late-night noise disturbances. He calls for enhanced police deployment and proactive enforcement to prevent the spread of such activities at the source.

Police stated that they will continue to strengthen efforts to combat illegal street racing and street takeover activities to ensure community safety and residents’ quality of life.
