US FBI Director: Permanent Closure of Hoover Building Officially Confirmed

On Friday, December 26, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel, announced that the agency has finalized plans to permanently close the J. Edgar Hoover Building.

Patel took to social media to post, “After over twenty years of effort, we have finally confirmed a plan to permanently close the FBI’s Hoover headquarters and relocate staff to a safe, modern facility.”

“We worked directly with President Trump and Congress to accomplish what others could not,” he added.

When Patel took over the FBI, there was a nearly $5 billion new building construction plan scheduled to start in 2035, but they decided to abandon that plan in favor of moving most FBI personnel to the existing Reagan Building.

This decision not only saves taxpayers billions of dollars but allows for an immediate transition, with security and infrastructure upgrades already in progress.

“Once complete, most headquarters staff will relocate to the new site, while the remaining personnel will stay put to provide additional support on the front lines,” said the FBI Director.

“This decision reallocates resources to where they truly belong: defending the homeland, combating violent crime, and safeguarding national security,” Patel stated, “providing existing FBI staff with better tools at a lower cost.”

“The Hoover Building will be permanently closed,” he concluded.
