US Parachute Team Displays Giant Flag at Pearl Harbor Day, Breaking World Record

On December 7, the day of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, a team of elite parachutists in the state of Arizona, USA, set a new world record by skydiving with a 3,200 square foot American flag, creating a breathtaking display of patriotic pride. This feat has been officially certified and is now in the process of being submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Just two months earlier on October 5, individuals in Benghazi, Libya, had raised at the time the largest free-falling national flag, setting a record that caught the attention of retired U.S. Army cavalryman Jariko Denman.

Denman, upon seeing the video of the Libyan parachutists on social media, ignited the idea of breaking that record, sparking a challenge that ultimately led to the monumental display in the skies of Arizona.

Denman collaborated with entrepreneur Jared Isaacman to explore the possibility of bringing this record back to the United States. Together, they assembled a skilled team of professional parachutists from Arizona and Chicago parachuting centers, including Hall of Fame jumper Rook Nelson.

Notable individuals such as veteran U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy from Montana, parachuting expert Steve Curtis, and Nick Kush also joined forces with the team to make this record-breaking event a reality.

The record-breaking jump took place on December 7, 2025, in Eloy, Arizona, a prominent parachuting hub in the United States, chosen as a fitting day for the occasion.

Leaping from a Huey helicopter from the Vietnam War era, the team unfurled the massive 3,200 square foot American flag at an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet, nearly twice the size of the flag displayed in Libya, successfully executing their planned mission.

Denman emphasized the unprecedented challenges and risks involved in suspending such a massive flag during freefall, a feat never before attempted, making the skydiving performance both daring and thrilling.

Given the technical demands and significant risks of the operation, only the most experienced team members were entrusted with controlling the flag during freefall.

With the support of ground personnel, the entire team and equipment landed safely after the remarkable display.

The team has confirmed that the skydiving performance has been certified and will be submitted for consideration in the Guinness World Records.

Denman expressed his deep pride in the team’s accomplishment, while Sheehy hailed it as a symbolic achievement that captures the spirit of patriotism, honoring the collaborative efforts of veterans, Navy SEALs, cavalrymen, and elite skydivers in bringing back the world record for the largest flag suspended in mid-air to the United States.

He underscored the significance of this record belonging to the United States and how it serves as a fitting start to the commemoration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.

In a broader context, initiatives such as the “America 250 Civics Education Coalition” have been launched by the Department of Education as part of efforts to promote patriotic education, strengthen national identity, and emphasize American history, the Constitution, and values, aligning with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Through a series of educational activities, lectures, student competitions, and collaborations with various organizations, the coalition aims to enhance civic awareness and appreciation for America’s historical legacy and fundamental principles, fostering a renewed sense of pride and unity among citizens.
