Fishing boat catches fire at pier in Beihai, Guangxi, spreading to 8 other boats.

On the evening of November 27th, a fishing boat caught fire at the Qiaogang Border Trade Wharf in Beihai, Guangxi, and the fire spread to eight nearby fishing boats. According to officials, no casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Video footage shared by netizens showed multiple ships engulfed in flames at the scene, with thick black smoke covering a large part of the sky. Firefighters were on-site working to extinguish the blaze.

Witnesses at the scene told Cover News that initially only one fishing boat was on fire. However, by around 11:50 PM, several other fishing boats had also caught fire.

The witness further mentioned that fishermen usually live on the boats, and as there is a large amount of diesel on fishing vessels, explosions could be heard. It is currently unclear if there have been any casualties.

In the early hours of November 28th, the Yinhai District Government in Beihai, Guangxi, reported that at 9:40 PM on November 27th, a fishing boat caught fire at the Qiaogang Border Trade Wharf in Qiaogang Town, Yinhai District. The fire spread to eight nearby fishing boats. As of 1:20 AM on November 28th, the visible flames had been extinguished, and “no casualties were reported.” The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the extent of the damage is being assessed.
