New York Port Authority officials announced that the fare for PATH subway one-way tickets will increase starting in the spring of next year, with a steady climb each year until reaching $4 in 2029. Currently priced at $3, the PATH one-way ticket fare will rise to $3.25 in the spring of 2026 and increase by $0.25 each January from 2027 to 2029.
However, there is also good news. The Port Authority plans to resume operating all PATH lines seven days a week. Starting in March 2026, the Journal Square-33rd St line passing through Hoboken will see a doubling of service frequency on weekends between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., with a train every 10 minutes. The service frequency on the Hoboken to World Trade Center route will also increase by 33%, with peak hour trains running every 6 minutes. Additionally, weekend train services from Hoboken to World Trade Center and 33rd Street will be restored for the first time starting in May, relieving Jersey City passengers from the headache of transfers.
Nighttime services will also be enhanced. On Saturday nights between 11:30 p.m. and 2 a.m., trains on all PATH lines will run every 20 minutes. Weekend services from Newark to World Trade Center and Hoboken to World Trade Center will increase starting in March 2027, operating from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with trains approximately every 15 minutes.
