Trump: China to Purchase Massive Amounts of US Energy

On October 30, 2025, US President Trump announced that China has agreed to start purchasing American energy. He stated that this could lead to a significant amount of Chinese buying oil and natural gas from Alaska.

Trump posted on his media platform “Truth Social”, saying, “China has also agreed to initiate the process of purchasing American energy. In fact, a massive deal may take place with buying oil and natural gas from the great state of Alaska.”

He further mentioned that the US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and the Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum will lead the American energy team to meet with Chinese representatives to explore the possibility of reaching such an energy agreement.

Trump reiterated in the post that China will purchase a large amount of soybeans, sorghum, and other agricultural products, and has agreed to continue open, free supply of rare earths, critical minerals, magnets, and stop fentanyl from entering the US, thereby ending the fentanyl crisis.

“The agreement reached today will bring prosperity and security to millions of Americans,” Trump wrote.

Today, on the 30th, Trump concluded his busy trip to Asia. During the 5-day itinerary, Trump visited Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. In Malaysia, Trump attended relevant meetings of the ASEAN Summit, witnessed Thailand and Cambodia signing a peace agreement, and reached several key mineral and trade agreements.

In Japan, Trump met with the new female prime minister Sanae Takichi, focusing on the US-Japan alliance, defense cost-sharing, and bilateral trade agreements. In South Korea, Trump attended relevant APEC meetings and met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, and held a highly anticipated “Trump-Xi Summit” with the CCP leader Xi Jinping in Busan on Thursday morning.

In the post, Trump stated: “Following this historic trip to Asia, I am now heading back to Washington, D.C. I want to thank the great Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea for their generosity, elegance, and hospitality – as well as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam for attending the dinner hosted by His Excellency Lee Jae-myung last night. Because of them, billions of dollars are flowing into our country.”

“Our country is once again strong, respected, admired, and the best is yet to come!” Trump wrote.

Before this, China had been avoiding importing US crude oil since the beginning of this year, and had been continuously reselling American liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Customs data from the past year showed that the US energy accounted for only 5% of China’s total LNG imports last year, and 2% of China’s crude oil imports. If the new agreement can be successfully executed, it is expected to significantly change this trade pattern.
