In less than two weeks, three deaths have occurred at Disney World in the United States, sparking public concern.
According to the New York Post, the most recent death involved a man in his sixties, and the cause of his death has not yet been determined. The man’s body was found at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Orange County, Florida, near the Magic Kingdom theme park.
Another man in his sixties was reported dead at the Fort Wilderness campground, as per Fox Business Channel.
Prior to these incidents, a 31-year-old Disney superfan named Summer Equitz died at the Contemporary Resort. Local media reported that authorities believe it was an “apparent suicide.”
These successive deaths have raised public concern, with eyewitnesses sharing photos and videos of the events on social media.
On the morning of October 23, a post on TikTok showed emergency personnel and police setting up a crime scene tape at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. The post mentioned, “This morning we woke up to a lot of law enforcement out on the balcony at Bay Lake Tower.”
The post concluded with, “We were told this was just a ‘medical emergency.’ Prayers for the families and everybody involved.”
Since its opening in 1971, a total of 68 deaths have been reported at Disney World, as per the New York Post.
Podcaster Jim Hill from “Disney Dish” had previously told the New York Post in 2022, “There’s a strange phenomenon that people with severe depression, wanting one last happy memory with their families, choose to go to Walt Disney World.”
He further explained, “They specifically book rooms at the Contemporary Resort, a 14-story building. After spending or remembering that happy family time, they jump from the building.”
Details of the recent deaths at Disney’s Contemporary Resort have yet to be officially disclosed.
