“Show Your Love for Taiwan” Series of Events Welcomes Registration

A series of summer activities planned by the association “Amazing Taiwan” are set to take place soon, aiming to promote Taiwan’s culture to the mainstream society and enhance multicultural exchanges. The events range from guided bus tours, Taiwan night markets, boba tea theme day to traditional banquet, offering a diverse and enriching experience for participants.

Kicking off the lineup is the guided bus tour on August 6th. Organizer Gao Chunhui mentioned that a new bus has been chartered for the occasion, with stops at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the Monterey coastline, and the artistic town of Carmel. The itinerary includes three meals with a buffet on the return journey, entertainment activities onboard, and refreshments like lychee and red bayberries, allowing people to relax and enjoy the summer to the fullest.

On August 16th, “Amazing Taiwan” will join hands with the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce to host a “Taiwan Night Market” at De Anza College from 3 pm to 9 pm, featuring a variety of Taiwanese street snacks such as grilled sausages, egg cakes, winter melon tea, local band performances, classic night market games like dice throwing, recreating the bustling ambiance of Taiwan’s night market scene.

Following closely on August 17th is the “Bobateeno Bubble Tea Day” co-hosted by the City of Cupertino, Able2Shine, and “Amazing Taiwan”. The event offers free bubble tea and a “blind taste challenge”. Themed as “Youth Club Day,” the event will showcase performances by Able2Shine and other youth groups, along with interactive games and activities, inviting everyone to participate and have a summer of fun.

In addition to these key events, a Taiwanese style banquet feast will be held in September, inviting friends from all walks of life to gather and experience authentic Taiwanese banquet culture, further promoting Taiwan’s culinary delights and hospitality.

Gao Chunhui, the head of “Amazing Taiwan,” stated that the association focuses on three main principles: “caring for fellow citizens,” “promoting Taiwan,” and “integrating into the mainstream.” This year, they have organized various activities such as square dancing, puppet shows, AI lectures, war journalist forums, and BBQ gatherings, actively integrating Taiwanese culture into mainstream society. She cited the square dancing events as being successful in attracting participation from the Indian and Israeli communities, fostering cultural exchanges and integration through traditional dance exchanges.

Cupertino Mayor Zhao Liangfang praised the efforts of “Amazing Taiwan” in promoting multiculturalism and expressed the hope to “dance others’ dances and invite others to dance ours,” achieving true cultural integration. She mentioned that Cupertino will celebrate its 70th anniversary of cityhood on October 10th, launching the “Cupertino Stories” project to encourage community members to share their memories and stories with the city, which can be submitted at cupertinostories.org.
