Henan Nylon Factory Explodes, at Least 1 Dead and 3 Sent to ICU

On the evening of June 8th, an explosion occurred at a nylon production enterprise in Gongdian Town, Yexian County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, resulting in at least one security guard’s death and three individuals being transferred to the ICU.

A local netizen posted a video on June 9th, stating that the explosion took place at a chemical factory in Gongdian, Yexian County, Pingdingshan the previous night. Many steel fragments fell into the village, posing a threat to the residents’ safety.

Villagers expressed concerns, saying, “It’s too close, too dangerous, this could have hit people.”

According to the local emergency management bureau’s information provided to the “New Beijing News,” the accident occurred on the evening of June 8th. The injured were taken to the Pingmei Shenma Medical Group General Hospital for treatment, and the exact number of casualties is still being verified. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Staff at the Pingmei Shenma Medical Group General Hospital stated that in the early hours of the 9th, they received several injured individuals from the accident scene. One 56-year-old man was rushed into the emergency room with a diagnosis of severe cranial brain injury, loss of consciousness, and no breathing or heartbeat.

By noon on the 9th, the staff responsible for caring for the injured at the company involved revealed that the man had passed away.

According to the staff member, “He (the deceased) was a security guard at the scene and was on patrol at the time of the incident.” In addition to the fatality, the explosion also left a female employee and two other company drivers injured. Currently, all three individuals are receiving treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
