Germany’s serial sexual assault case cracked, 43-year-old Chinese suspect arrested.

On November 14th, the German police cracked a case of multiple sexual assaults against Chinese women in Hesse. A 43-year-old Chinese male suspect was arrested for pretending to be a female tenant to lure victims and then drugging and assaulting them upon meeting.

On November 15th, the Frankfurt Prosecutor’s Office and the Hesse Criminal Investigation Bureau jointly announced the resolution of a series of serial rape cases against Chinese women in Frankfurt and nearby areas in Hesse, Germany. The suspect has been apprehended.

According to the German newspaper “Bild,” on November 14th, a man named Dapeng Z. was arrested by investigators while working at a car company in Rauenheim. Dapeng Z. is expected to be transferred to the local court before the weekend. Evidence was found in Dapeng Z.’s apartment, and his DNA was discovered at the crime scenes.

The police revealed that the suspect’s modus operandi was cunning, disguising himself as a woman and using Chinese social platforms such as WeChat and Xiaohongshu to contact potential tenants through rental advertisements. He gained the victims’ trust before drugging and assaulting them during house viewings, with some victims losing consciousness for several hours. The locations of the crimes spanned Frankfurt, Göttingen, and Mannheim, with the victims aged between 19 and 33. Since January this year, the police have received reports from four female victims.

An internet user in Frankfurt posted the suspect’s information on Xiaohongshu: ZhangDaPeng, male, 43 years old, Chinese nationality, a graduate of Harbin Institute of Technology with a dual degree in information technology from the University of Tübingen. He currently works as an IT manager for Lotus Cars and his LinkedIn profile has been exposed.

Commenting on the situation, one internet user mentioned attending a meeting with the suspect before and said, “During the meeting, he seemed like a normal person, never thought he could be someone like this.” Another user disclosed that the suspect was suspected to be the owner of a WeChat group for photography enthusiasts in Frankfurt, frequently organizing private shooting and cosplay sessions.
