Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting in New York City on December 4th

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree for 2024 has been chosen, and this year’s tree is a 74-foot tall Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is set to be lit up during a ceremony on December 4th.

This is the first time since 1959 that a Norway spruce from Massachusetts has been selected as the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The approximately 70-year-old spruce will be decorated with tens of thousands of LED lights once it arrives in Manhattan. It will also be adorned with a Swarovski star tree topper weighing around 900 pounds, adding a dazzling sparkle to the holiday season. This iconic Christmas tree will be lit on December 4th, followed by the “Christmas at Rockefeller Center” music concert, featuring performances by various artists, inviting the public to embrace the moment when the tree lights up.

The Christmas tree is expected to be on display until mid-January next year. After the display ends, the tree will be cut into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity for charitable construction projects.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is one of New York City’s most popular holiday attractions. Since 1931, it has drawn a large number of fans each year, with the lighting ceremony that began in 1933 being a major event.
