Hainan City Murder Case: Family of 3 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured, Killer Commits Suicide

As the Lunar New Year approaches, a criminal case occurred in Haikou City, Hainan Province on the Chinese mainland, where a family of three was killed and one person was injured, with the perpetrator fleeing and subsequently committing suicide.

On the evening of February 6th, the Xiu District Committee of Haikou City announced that on February 3rd at around 8:00 am, a “three dead, one injured” criminal case took place in a residential area in Xiu District. The suspect, a 35-year-old man named Li, committed suicide around 2:00 pm on the same day during the process of being arrested.

However, the announcement did not specify the motive of the perpetrator or provide details about the identity of the victims.

The case has sparked speculation online, with many netizens questioning, “What kind of person doesn’t even want to celebrate the New Year?” Some suggest it could be a “crime of passion,” others speculate a “burglary gone wrong,” while a few mention unresolved financial disputes.

Based on posts from several local netizens, it was revealed that the incident took place in Villa No. 1 at Guanhai Terrace, with the assailant attempting a burglary at this upscale residential complex. “He was caught by the family, resulting in the killing of the mother and two children, with one child currently hospitalized.”

Some netizens also disclosed that behind this villa area, there is an unfinished construction site where the perpetrator had been “scouting the area in the unfinished building for several days” before committing the crime.

Videos related to the incident seem to have been censored, as no relevant videos can be found on Chinese social media platforms. Some netizens expressed frustration, saying, “The videos can’t be shared no matter what.”
