Brooklyn Car Accident in New York City Leaves Young Boy Seriously Injured, Unlicensed Driver Arrested

On the afternoon of October 7th around 4:45 pm, a serious car accident occurred at the intersection of Fort Hamilton Parkway and 59th Street in Brooklyn. A young boy was hit by a car while crossing the street and sustained severe injuries. Following the accident, a young white male driver, whose driver’s license had been suspended, was arrested by the 66th Precinct of the city police.

According to surveillance footage, at the time of the accident, the injured boy was not accompanied by any adults, but was walking with another young Chinese boy wearing slippers and pajamas. Sources revealed that these two children appeared to have left home on their own. The injured boy was rushed to Maimonides Hospital for emergency treatment and remained in critical condition. As of late last night at around 8 pm, there were reports indicating that the child had been stabilized but was still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with his mother by his side at the hospital.

City Council Member Zhuang Wenyi expressed shock after viewing the accident video and hoped for the quick recovery of the injured child. Her office has been in contact with the victim’s family and will provide full support to them. As a mother herself, Zhuang Wenyi urged all parents to pay more attention to their children’s safety to prevent similar incidents from happening. She also emphasized that she will continue to promote and organize activities to raise awareness about pedestrian safety in the future.

State Senator Qu Yiwen also stated that she will continue to collaborate closely with the police, hospitals, and community organizations to provide assistance to the children and their families.
