On Friday, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck the northern region of Iran, according to data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake occurred amidst Israel’s ongoing airstrikes on Iran.
The USGS reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) and located approximately 37 kilometers (23 miles) southwest of Semnan city.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Tasnim News Agency stated that the earthquake was measured at 5.2 magnitude.
On the same day, Israel conducted another round of airstrikes in western Iran. The Jerusalem Post cited a military official who indicated that the target of the attack was Iran’s ballistic missile storage and launch sites.
The Israeli Defense Forces stated that around 15 fighter jets used 30 ammunition rounds during the attack on Iran’s ballistic missile launch sites.
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir emphasized on Friday that Israel must be prepared for a prolonged campaign against Iran to eliminate the significant threat posed by the country, indicating that the war is unlikely to end swiftly.
Zamir expressed in a video statement that Iran has been developing a clear plan to destroy the nation of Israel for years, and in recent months, this plan has reached a point of no return, with their capabilities reaching operational readiness.
