Ningxia Performing Arts Group Limited Company Vice General Manager, and Communist Party’s “National First-Class Actor” Chen Liyun was recently investigated, and her superior, Ningxia Performing Arts Group General Manager Fan Jingguo was also investigated last month.
According to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Commission for Discipline Inspection on December 6th, Chen Liyun, former member of the Party Committee and Vice General Manager of Ningxia Performing Arts Group Limited Company, is suspected of “serious violations of discipline and law” and is currently under investigation.
Public records show that Chen Liyun was born in May 1968 in Yinchuan, Ningxia. She is a National First-Class Actor and has previously served as the Vice President of the Ningxia Dancers Association, Secretary of the Party Branch, and Director of the Song and Dance Theater at Ningxia Performing Arts Group.
The specific reasons for Chen Liyun’s investigation are currently unclear.
Fan Jingguo, Chen Liyun’s superior and former Party Secretary and General Manager of Ningxia Performing Arts Group Limited Company, was investigated on November 7th this year. Fan Jingguo has also held positions such as member of the Party Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Cultural Department and Vice Chairman of the Autonomous Region Literary Federation.
Established in 2011, Ningxia Performing Arts Group Limited Company is a state-owned sole proprietorship with multiple subsidiary companies, including Ningxia Performing Arts Group Song and Dance Theater Limited Company, Qinqiang Theater Limited Company, Peking Opera Theater Limited Company, Drama Theater Limited Company, Acrobatics Group Limited Company, and Ningxia Performing Arts Group Theater Management Limited Company.
In recent years, several Communist Party’s “National First-Class Actors” have been investigated.
In March 2017, Wang Hongxing, Vice President of Yunnan Arts Academy, was investigated. He is a well-known Chinese tenor singer and “National First-Class Actor”.
On May 26, 2022, Chen Zhaoshun, Party Branch Secretary and Director of the Huangmei Opera (local opera) Research Institute in Anqing City, Anhui Province, was investigated. Chen Zhaoshun is a former actor of the Anqing Huangmei Opera Troupe with over forty years of experience. He is a Communist Party National First-Class Actor, a member of the China Dramatists Association, and Vice Chairman of the Anhui Dramatists Association.
In August 2023, former advisor to the Gansu Provincial Government, Su Xiaolin, was dealt with. Another identity of his is a tenor singer and National First-Class Actor. The official charges against Su Xiaolin are rare, accusing him of involvement in gang activities and cultivating personal influence.
