Tesla’s self-sufficient energy homes selling well in Texas

Houston Real Estate Agents in Texas say that the newly built Tesla-powered homes in the city are quickly being snatched up by buyers. It is somewhat surprising that Texans, a state that has built its economic strength on fossil fuels, are showing interest in Tesla-powered homes. This could be related to Texas’ unique power grid and extreme weather conditions.

Due to the sweeping reforms led by the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency against the federal government, many people are dissatisfied with him, which has also affected Tesla electric vehicles. Combined with the impact of the tariff war, Tesla’s sales have plummeted significantly in the past few months, with some Tesla stores even coming under attack.

However, Tesla-powered homes have caught the attention of Texans because they can achieve complete energy self-sufficiency. Texas, lacking a connection to the national power grid, often faces severe blackouts during harsh winters and scorching summers. Once the power goes out, sometimes the blackout can last for up to five days. These homes are equipped with solar roof tiles that can generate electricity, relieving residents of worries about electricity bills and allowing them to sell excess electricity back to the grid.

These 11 Tesla-powered homes are located in the Houston area. Each home is equipped with Tesla solar roof tiles, a Tesla Powerwall home battery system, and an electric vehicle fast charger. All homes have three bedrooms, three bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, high-end Whirlpool appliances, quartz countertops, under-cabinet lighting, and walk-in food storage. The primary bedroom is designed like a spa with a standalone soaking tub, dual vanities, a large shower, and a private courtyard.

Of course, such comfort comes at a price. The starting price of a Tesla-powered home ranges from $524,000 to $544,900, which is approximately $180,000 higher than the median list price of $365,000 for homes in Houston. However, the high demand for these powered homes indicates that many people still believe they provide value for the investment.
