Italian Prime Minister Melania visited the White House on Thursday, April 17th, to meet with U.S. President Trump. During the meeting, Melania invited Trump to visit Italy. Melania later announced that Trump had accepted the invitation. Both leaders expressed confidence in rejuvenating the greatness of the West.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melania stated on Thursday that U.S. President Trump had accepted her invitation for an official visit to Italy. She added that Trump would also have the opportunity to meet with other European leaders.
Melania and Trump spoke together in the Oval Office. As the leader of the right-wing party “Italian Brothers Party” in Italy, Melania discussed their political similarities with Trump and also touched on the conflict in Ukraine. Tensions in U.S.-EU relations heightened as the U.S. did not invite the EU to participate in negotiations with Russia.
“My goal is to make the West great again, and I believe we can achieve that together,” Melania pointed to Trump and said.
“We surely can,” Trump responded.
Melania expressed her belief that the United States and Europe can work together to achieve a “just and lasting” peace in Ukraine.
“We have been jointly defending the freedom of Ukraine,” Melania stated.
