On July 24th, a netizen posted that she went to Shenzhen’s Kelaosi for a job interview and got into an argument with the interviewer due to his disrespectful attitude. As a result, she was physically assaulted by him, leading to a fracture in her lumbar vertebra. After the incident was exposed, netizens dug up more negative information about the company involved.
According to the netizen’s post, there were seven to eight people attending the interview that day. The netizen witnessed the impolite treatment of other job seekers by the interviewer and decided not to work for the company. She requested to have her ID number and phone number removed from her resume to protect her personal information, but her request was denied. Subsequently, five to six people surrounded her.
Feeling scared, the netizen quickly called the police. The interviewer grabbed her resume upon seeing this and attempted to leave. The netizen insisted on keeping her resume until the police arrived. However, the interviewer ignored her request. When the netizen tried to retrieve her resume, the interviewer opened a door to a room. Believing it was an office, she followed him inside, only to realize it was a men’s restroom. As she attempted to leave, the door was shut behind her.
She described, “He held my neck with his left hand, while hitting my mouth and forehead with his right hand. After being hit, everything went dark before my eyes. My phone flew out, and when I tried to stand up, I couldn’t due to excruciating pain in my waist. I screamed for help in the restroom but no one came to open the door.” The netizen stated that she managed to escape the restroom when the assailant snatched her phone to delete the recorded video.
“I couldn’t move at that point,” the netizen asked for an ambulance but was ridiculed and accused of faking it. The police, who responded to her call, didn’t allow her to answer it as they held her phone. Eventually, as the situation escalated, the company reported the incident to the police. Only then did the police arrive, return her phone, and call an ambulance.
Medical imaging at the hospital revealed a fracture in the L1 lumbar vertebra, as well as head and upper lip injuries, and soft tissue damage. Doctors advised her to continue examinations the next day, with the possibility of requiring surgery for severe cases. However, despite her immobility, the police called her for a statement. “I said I cannot move. I asked them to come to the hospital, but they claimed insufficient police resources prevented them from coming and told me to come to them. I felt incredibly helpless at that moment, so I called the police again, and they finally arrived and took my statement, which took until late at night,” the netizen recounted.
After the incident garnered widespread attention online, many netizens exposed information about the company involved. The company in question was identified as Shenzhen Wanqi Clothing Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of over 8 million and employing over 200 staff. The owner is Han Zhiqiang.
Furthermore, a pregnant woman spoke up, revealing she was a former employee of the same company. On February 27th, the boss called her to an unmonitored office and continuously poked her arms, resulting in bruises. She and her husband went for a medical examination that night. The following day, she was publicly humiliated, had her monthly salary withheld, and was forced to resign. In March, she reported the case to the Futian Tian’an Police Station, providing audio recordings as evidence. However, the police refused to file a case, citing the lack of physical evidence.
Under mounting public pressure, employees of Shenzhen Wanqi Clothing Co., Ltd. responded to local media on the afternoon of the 24th, stating that they had provided relevant evidence to the police. They claimed that there was no physical contact between both parties in the conflict and suggested waiting for the investigation results.
The police station handling the case said it had been accepted and was proceeding with criminal proceedings. The investigation is expected to be completed in 7 days, pending the victim’s medical assessment report to confirm whether a case will be filed.
On July 25th, Jiupai News reported that the implicated interviewer had been criminally detained by the police.
