Breaking News: Musk X Platform CEO Announces Resignation

Social media platform X’s Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino announced her resignation on Wednesday (July 9), as reported by Epoch Times on July 9, 2025.

In a post on the X platform, Yaccarino stated, “After an incredible two years, I have decided to resign from my position as CEO of X.”

“When Elon Musk and I first discussed his vision for X, I knew this would be an outstanding opportunity to fulfill an extraordinary mission for the company in my lifetime,” she said. “I am extremely grateful for his trust in me and giving me the responsibility to uphold freedom of speech, turn the company around, and transform X into a versatile application.”

Yaccarino did not disclose the reason for her resignation in the post. However, she praised the company for achieving “historic business transformations” under her leadership for the past two years.

“I am deeply proud of the X team – the historic business transformations we accomplished together have been extraordinary,” she said. “Starting from crucial early work prioritizing user safety, especially for children, and restoring advertiser confidence, this team has tirelessly worked from groundbreaking innovations such as Community Notes to the upcoming X Money, and bringing the most iconic voices and content onto the platform. Now, as X enters a new chapter alongside Xai, the most exciting moments are yet to come.”

“X is truly a digital town square that accommodates all voices and is the most influential cultural signal globally,” she said. “Without the support of our users, business partners, and the world’s most innovative team, we would not have been able to achieve this goal.”

Musk acquired Twitter (later rebranded as X) in October 2022 and recruited Yaccarino as the CEO when many advertisers were pulling out of the platform. Yaccarino, a former advertising executive at NBC Universal, began her role as CEO of X under Musk’s ownership on June 5, 2023.
