Recently, in Tian Dong County, Baise City, Guangxi, a sugar factory had a major incident where 12 tons of disinfectant got damp, resulting in a large amount of smoke and causing the temporary evacuation of nearly a thousand people.

In recent days, videos circulating on the internet in China show large white smoke enveloping the area around a sugar factory in Tian Dong County, Baise City, Guangxi. The smoke even spread to residential areas. Workers were seen wearing chemical protection suits and gas masks to handle the damp disinfectant.

A resident living in the Country Garden residential area nearby told “Extreme Vision News” that on the night of May 20, they smelled a pungent odor and were subsequently instructed to close all doors and windows. A map shows that within a 2-kilometer radius west of the sugar factory, there are residential areas like Country Garden.

Another resident near the sugar factory mentioned that they were asked to evacuate after the incident. They said, “At the time, the wind was blowing westward,” and the heavily affected area was to the west of the factory, while they themselves lived to the north.
