Amazon announced on Tuesday, December 10th, that consumers can now purchase new cars directly from Amazon’s website in 48 cities across the United States.
The new program, called “Amazon Autos,” will kick off with new Hyundai vehicles and is set to expand to other brands by 2025. Apart from offering a wider selection, Amazon plans to introduce more financing options, leasing services, and coverage in more cities throughout the U.S.
The operation of this new program is similar to buying other products on Amazon’s website. Customers can view dealer reviews, add a new car to their online shopping cart, and proceed to check out.
Through Amazon Autos, consumers can browse the available vehicle options from local dealers, get trade-in values for their current vehicles, access financing or make full payments, and schedule delivery times, all managed online.
Amazon states that the program provides “transparent pricing from local dealers, eliminating the hassle of negotiation.” The price visible to customers at checkout is the final price, inclusive of taxes.
Currently, Amazon Autos offers 10 Hyundai models for sale, including Palisade, Kona, Elantra, Venue, Sonata, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Santa Cruz, Tucson, and Santa Fe.
The following is a list of participating cities in each state compiled by “The Hill Report”:
