On Sunday, June 2nd, members of the China Democracy Party and people from all walks of life gathered in the heart of Flushing, the largest Chinese community in New York, for a grand rally commemorating the 35th anniversary of June 4th, 1989, condemning the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party and honoring the victims massacred by the CCP in 1989. People expressed that the CCP is in its final stages of decline, on the brink of collapse, and they hope to commemorate June 4th in Beijing next year.
At the rally, slogans like “Down with the Communist Party”, “Communist Party Step Down”, “Justice Will Prevail”, “Free China” echoed continuously. Participants displayed lists and photos of some students who perished in Tiananmen Square 35 years ago, as well as photos of freedom fighters who were either killed by the CCP at different times or are still detained by the regime.
Ning Xianhua, the Chairman of the National United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party, the organizer of the event, stated that this is their sixth year holding this commemoration event. He emphasized, “We want to send a message to the world: history will not forget, the people will not forget, the blood debt owed to the people by the CCP for June 4th must be repaid.”
On June 4, 1989, the pro-democracy movement led by Chinese students was brutally suppressed by the CCP, with tanks rolling into Tiananmen Square crushing students and civilians, resulting in thousands of deaths, known as the “Tiananmen Square Massacre.”
“We are here to commemorate those who sacrificed themselves 35 years ago for the future of the Chinese nation, for a more just society, for freedom, democracy, and human rights,” said Wang Juntao, Co-Chairman of the National Committee of the China Democracy Party. “We are here to make the world hear the true voice of the Chinese people, which is: the Communist Party does not represent China.”
Wang Juntao introduced that this year’s commemoration activities include four events, including a gathering in front of the White House and the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. on June 1. They aim to convey a message to the U.S. government: the events of June 4, 1989, have not been redressed, and tens of millions of Chinese compatriots have died at the hands of the Communist Party during its 75 years in power.
“We hope that the U.S. government can support us, and globally combat the CCP,” Wang Juntao said. “I hope to overturn the tyranny of the CCP this year, and hold a grand memorial in Beijing next year to commemorate all the Chinese compatriots who were persecuted to death by the Communist Party.”
Chinese political commentators Chen Pokong and Zhang Lin addressed the gathering.
Chen Pokong stated that June 4th is a day that shakes the CCP to its core, with the CCP on edge every year on this day, representing the party’s doomsday and the day when the CCP will be judged. He called on all Chinese people worldwide to unite and never give up the fight against the CCP.
Zhang Lin remarked that the CCP’s rule is on the verge of collapse, similar to the collapse of the Soviet Union. “The significance of commemorating June 4 lies in our enduring dream of freedom,” he said. “We hope that one day the Chinese people can live freely like Americans, no longer oppressed and enslaved by the CCP.”
Zhang Yan, the widow of a June 4 victim, Li Jinhong, a pro-democracy activist from Hunan, who was sentenced to four years in prison by the CCP for supporting the Beijing student movement back then and harassed after his release.
“My heart is heavy today. My husband was a worker, and he endured 31 years of persecution in China until his death!” she said tearfully and angrily shouted, “Down with the Communist Party! Communist Party Step Down!”
Sunday’s commemorative event attracted people from all walks of life, including members of various organizations such as Beijing Spring, Chinese Democratic United Front, Chinese Women’s Rights, Christian Justice Alliance, and freedom-loving Chinese-American residents in New York.
Chen Weijie, Vice Chairman of the China Human Rights Alliance in New York, expressed that the downfall of the CCP is imminent because “The CCP engages in organ harvesting, persecutes the Chinese people to an unprecedented extent domestically, its actions have awakened more and more Chinese people.”
New York resident Yuan Zhe said that today he felt both sorrow and joy. He was happy because, “The whole world now sees the evil nature of the CCP, this demon, almost entirely forming a fist to strike against the CCP, which is in its final days.”
New York resident and internet celebrity Moses Zhou attends the June 4 commemorative event every year and expressed optimism about China’s future.
“June 4 was a movement where all Chinese people embraced freedom from the heart, its significance cannot be overstated; we commemorate June 4 not only to remember history, but more importantly to embrace the future, unite to defeat the CCP tyranny, and seek freedom,” he said. “I am very happy today because most likely this year is the last year, and I hope next year we can return to China to commemorate June 4.”
After the rally, people started a march from the library, walking along Main Street to Northern Boulevard.
Tomorrow, members of various organizations will hold flash activities at world-class landmarks in New York City; on June 4, they will host an international symposium at the June 4 Memorial Hall in New York, condemning the CCP’s atrocities, envisioning a future China without the CCP; then they will march along Broadway to the Chinese Consulate on 42nd Street, followed by a rally and speech event there. After dark, they will light candles to mourn the spirits of June 4.
