Trump campaign team raises $130 million in August

The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump once again showcased his fundraising prowess in August, raising a total of $130 million, bringing the campaign’s cash on hand to $295 million as of the end of the month.

Trump’s campaign team stated in a press release on Wednesday, September 4th, that 98% of the funds raised in August were from donations less than $200, with an average contribution of $56. The total fundraising amount slightly decreased compared to July when they raised $138.7 million, with cash on hand at $327 million at that time; in that month, Trump survived an assassination attempt during an outdoor event in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Senior advisor to Trump’s campaign, Brian Hughes, said, “With the unity of the Republican Party, increasing numbers of independent voters, and dissatisfied voters from the Democratic Party crossing party lines, Trump and Pence have gained momentum in the final stages of the campaign.” He added, “These fundraising figures from August reflect this trend, which will drive President Trump’s ‘America First’ movement back into the White House and help us reverse the poor performance of Harris and Biden.”

Both camps are currently heavily targeting key states, pouring in a significant amount of TV advertisements. Trump had previously led Biden in several polls, including in crucial swing states. However, after Kamala Harris joined the race, the polling results between the two have become increasingly close, narrowing the gap between them.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris surpassed Trump’s campaign fundraising in July with a total of $310 million raised. Her campaign team has not yet released the fundraising data for August.

Jen O’Malley Dillon, the campaign manager for Harris, stated that since Harris entered the race on July 21st, she has raised over $540 million, a historic amount for a candidate. This situation demonstrates that Harris’s candidacy is sparking a new wave of donations and volunteer participation, thereby enhancing her competitiveness in the election campaign.
