Bus Crashes into Pedestrian Walkway in Seoul, South Korea, Injuring 13 People

On Friday afternoon, a bus accident occurred in Seoul’s Seodaemun-gu district in South Korea, resulting in 13 injuries, two of which are severe. Local police and fire departments are currently investigating the specifics of the accident and assessing property damage.

According to reports from South Korean media, the incident took place around 1:27 p.m. local time (12:27 p.m. Taiwan time) near the intersection close to Seodaemun Station. At that time, a bus on the 704 route suddenly veered onto the sidewalk while in operation.

As of the time of reporting, the accident has left 13 people injured, including the bus driver, multiple passengers, and pedestrians, with two in critical condition.

Footage from YTN TV in South Korea showed the bus seemingly crossing a wide sidewalk before crashing directly into the glass facade of a building along the roadside.

Following the accident, the scene was briefly chaotic, with bus debris scattered around the area.

South Korean police and fire departments have stated that there is no evidence of the driver being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The police will conduct drug testing on the driver and further investigate the cause of the crash.

To facilitate accident handling and investigation, temporary traffic controls have been implemented on certain roads near the accident site.
