India-Pakistan Military Conflict Intensifies
The military conflict between India and Pakistan is rapidly escalating with tensions running high between the two nations. Pakistan’s military announced on Saturday that in response to India’s missile strikes on three of its air force bases earlier in the day, Pakistan had initiated retaliatory military actions, targeting several Indian military facilities.
This latest round of conflict marks one of the most intense crises between India and Pakistan in nearly 30 years, with both sides estimating at least 48 fatalities since the hostilities began on Wednesday.
Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated in a late-night television address, “Indian military aircraft launched air-to-surface missiles…Nur Khan, Mureed, and Shorkot air bases were all targeted.”
One of the bases is located near Rawalpindi, close to the capital Islamabad, while the other two are in Pakistan’s eastern province of Punjab bordering India.
The Pakistani military claimed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the incoming missiles, with initial assessments indicating no damage to the air force facilities.
In response, Pakistan immediately launched retaliatory military actions, claiming to have destroyed BrahMos missile storage facilities in the Beas region of northern India and targeting the Pathankot air base and Udhampur air station.
Furthermore, the Pakistani military asserted that their retaliatory strikes covered multiple targets within Indian-controlled Kashmir, including the KG Top brigade headquarters, field supply depots in Uri, and artillery positions in Derangyari.
The military stated that this was a “tit-for-tat” counterstrike targeting the sites from which the Indian military had earlier launched missiles. The operation was named “Bunyanun Marsoos,” derived from Quranic terminology, meaning “unbreakable fortress.”
Regarding the Pakistani claims on targets and attacks, independent verification by Epoch Times has not been possible, and the Indian Ministry of Defense has yet to issue a public statement.
India has only mentioned that its forces have retaliated against Pakistan’s military actions.
A knowledgeable Indian official told CNN, “All Pakistani attacks have been appropriately countered by the Indian armed forces.”
This latest escalation stems from a shooting incident targeting Indian pilgrims in Indian-controlled Kashmir last month. India has accused Pakistan-supported armed militants of orchestrating the attack and carried out airstrikes on what were claimed to be “militant organization targets” within Pakistan, sparking a fresh round of hostilities on Wednesday.
Since then, India and Pakistan have been exchanging missile and drone attacks for several days, engaging in skirmishes and shelling along the border areas. Explosions have been reported in Kashmir and nearby regions, indicating a rapidly deteriorating situation.
Both India and Pakistan estimate at least 48 fatalities since Wednesday’s clashes began, but these casualty figures have not been independently verified by any organization.
