“30,000 Eggs Await You at the White House Easter Egg Roll Event”

On Monday, April 21, President Trump and First Lady Melania held the annual Easter Egg Roll event on the White House lawn. This traditional event is one of the most prestigious events at the White House, attracting a large number of children and parents each time.

President Trump stood on the White House balcony and said, “We are honoring Jesus Christ, we will honor Jesus Christ vigorously in our lifetime… not just now, but our whole life.”

During the egg roll, each child took a wooden spoon to push the eggs, and the one who could roll their egg to the finish line the fastest would win. Families with children under 13 would have the opportunity to participate in the 147th egg roll event with President Trump, First Lady Melania, White House staff, and their families through an online lottery.

This event not only brings unlimited fun to children but also gives participants the opportunity to take commemorative photos with the President and First Lady, and participate in other fun activities held on the South Lawn of the White House.

The Easter Egg Roll is a tradition at the White House dating back to 1878, when it was first hosted by the 19th US President, Rutherford Birchard Hayes.

According to the White House Historical Association, the egg roll event has only been canceled a few times due to wartime difficulties, construction, and inclement weather. Presidents who had to cancel the egg roll event include Truman, Trump, and Biden. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump and Biden canceled this event in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

The 2025 egg roll event welcomed corporate sponsorship for the first time. A document obtained by USA TODAY regarding sponsorship opportunities stated that sponsors would “provide financial support, activities, and gifts to enhance the event, while gaining valuable brand exposure and national recognition.”

CNN reported that companies such as YouTube, Meta (parent company of Facebook), and Amazon sponsored the event.

According to NBC, despite ongoing avian flu causing supply shortages and skyrocketing egg prices, the White House Easter Egg Roll event will still use real eggs.

NBC quoted Trump earlier this month saying, “Some people say, ‘for Easter, can we not use real eggs, can we use plastic eggs?’ I said, we don’t want to do that.”

The event will use approximately 2,500 dozens of eggs donated by farmers, totaling up to 30,000 eggs, as introduced by the American Egg Board.

Emily Metz, Chair and CEO of the American Egg Board, stated in a press release, “The core of this event is to bring joy to children and families, and it is very important to celebrate as much as possible during challenging times for egg farmers.”

“Eggs are at the heart of the cherished traditions and memories of Easter and Passover, and this year is no exception,” Metz said.
